"Supernatural" Recap 7.02: Leviathans in the Workplace

For the uninitiated, Supernatural is essentially about the adventures of two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, who roam the world (read US), and hunt and kill pretty much everything demonic. It won’t be long now before they are onto Bella Swan. Until then, let's quickly bring you up to speed with happenings of the last week’s episode.

Last week after killing a bunch of people, Castiel decided he no longer wanted to play God. Meanwhile, paraphrasing Regina Spektor’s "The Call," Sam’s memories grew stronger and stronger till they were before his eyes, i.e. Lucifer is Back! And finally, in a giant twist, the Leviathans declared that Cas is dead, and they run the show now.

The Leviathans

Knowing Castiel’s human vessel will eventually explode like an overfilled water balloon under their joint weight (there are at least 4 Leviathans in there kicking around) these smart monsters send Castiel's animated corpse to the public water reservoir, where he explodes beneath the surface. Castiel is gone. Note to Sioux Falls residents: bottled water advised, and try not to sit on any toilets..

That trench coat looks weirdly empty without its usual beef.

The leviathans are like Eve, the demon-mother from season 6; they jump humans from kitchen sinks, water fountains, etc. and take over their bodies. Their first vessels are a little girl, who quickly takes over a doctor’s body. Another takes over a demolition guy by the name of Edgar, while a couple more are probably gay Leviathans, they pick up two guys from a swim team.

There seems to be some kind of hierarchy among these monster with Dr. McSexy and Edgar at the top and others serving under them. There is also a hidden "Boss" somewhere in the picture. But I think this is lstructured like a video game, and we haven't reached that level yet.

The Leviathans: Hunchman#1, Edgar, Dr. McSexy, Hunchman#2

The body count begins to rise exponentially as the Leviathans settle down at Sioux Falls General Hospital(significant later), as the head doctor and nursing staff. Basically a perfect working gig for people devouring monsters.

I don't know about you, but Leviathans are on their way to becoming my favourite Supernatural villains ever! They are going to be tough to vanquish. For starters, they retain memories of their vessels, which means everything Castiel knew about Winchesters they now know, which is quite a lot. Also, they are virtually indestructible – silver buck-shot, hammers, cars – nothing works on them.

Sam

While the Leviathans are busy chomping their way around town, Sam has his own demons to deal with. Lucifer is back, and how!

You are my bunk mate, buddy. You are my little bitch in every sense of the term.

Last week, Lucifer told Sam that his normal world is actually an illusion. This week he upped the ante by proving it.
