Supernatural Recap Episode 710: "The Eternal Sunshine of Bobby’s Mind"

Last time, Bobby and the boys went hunting in New Jersey and came face to face with Leviathan big boss, billionaire Dick Roman, and his minions. It looked like the boys were lucky to narrowly evade capture, but then tragedy struck: Bobby was shot.

Welcome to the mid-season finale of Supernatural!

Returning where we left off, the Winchesters realize Bobby has been shot in the head. What follows are probably the worst 10 minutes of their lives as they drive desperately to the hospital.

Meanwhile in Bobby’s mind, he and the boys are back in Pine Barrens outback hunting for the rumoured Jersey Devil, where they find the body of Chief Assistant Deputy Phil.

Bobby déjà vu’s that something weird is about to happen. But the boys look at him like he’s lost his marbles, especially when he starts talking about getting shot in the head, out in the real world.

But Bobby’s not done yet. He says he has to tell them something about the Leviathans’ plans and writes down these numbers on a piece of paper, “4 5 4 8 9 5”. I wonder what these might signify. Dick Roman’s phone number.? The total number of Leviathans running around unchecked? The days left until Leviathans take over the world? Maybe we should save it for the comments’ section.

As, he turns around to hand the paper over to Sam and Dean, he finds that the boys have morphed to Karen, his wife.

Karen Singer

So, he sticks the paper in his pocket. The scene between Bobby and his wife is poignant, mainly because Bobby knows what’s going to happen to in her future.

Bobby hears a storm coming, which he remembers as one of the things that happened that night. He rushes to the window where he sees a young boy circle the woodshed and come running back inside the house.

He goes off to confront the boy, much to the chagrin of his wife… and finds himself standing outside a church, in the pouring rain, hunting ghosts with his ex-partner Rufus.

Rufus

He tries to enlist Rufus’ help by telling him “I’m gonna die”, but Rufus returns “now that’s a realistic view of the mortality rate on a ghost hunt” before entering the church alone.

Outside Bobby turns around to see the young boy from his house standing behind him with a message, “God’s gonna punish you.” He, then, finds a broken glass of spilt milk on the floor and looks back up, but the boy is gone.

Grim Reaper, who looks nothing like Grimm’s Reaper, Sasha Roiz

He enters the church, and runs into his Reaper, who informs him that Bobby is still in a coma and it’s the reaper’s job to “climb into his custard and fish him out”. But Bobby’s all “piss off.”

Nice move, Reaper. Tell a guy like Bobby he’s “almost” dead and expect him to give up without a fight. Genius!
