"Warehouse 13": Well, We Weren't Expecting THAT!

What is this show now, Torchwood: Miracle Day?

Warehouse 13, the fun and silly Syfy show about magical artifacts, took a dark turn this week, and ended with two shocking moments. One was straight out of soap opera, and the other much more serious, but both were handled well. And both are sure to cause repercussions in the last half of the season

The agents finally caught up with the nefarious Sally Stukowski, who is suspected in the deaths of several Warehouse Regents (the bosses of the Warehouse Agents). An artifact-enhanced questioning reveals the whereabouts of another possible assassination attempt, and while Artie and Myka head over to try to stop it, Sally is in store for more ... questioning.

Storyline "A"

After realizing that three Regents (including special guest star Kate Mulgrew as Jane. Just ... Jane) are in danger, Myka and Artie also realize that the office tower they're trying to escape from has been sabotaged ... by an artifact.

A corrosive agent (no, not Claudia) is eating its way through the building, and everyone is in danger of being consumed by the acidic energy. After a few expendable bodyguards are melted, it's decided that the safest course of action is to head to the roof.

What follows are a lot of action scenes, as various Regents and bodyguards are red-shirted, and Kate's character and Myka bond. It's not surprising, though. Being a tough broad is just the Jane way.

See what I did there?

Anyway ... eventually, the important people make it to safety. Artie, thanks to a window washer lift, and an artifact ladder made from Frank Lloyd Wright's son's pick-up-stix, and Myka and Jane use firehoses to climb down the elevator shaft.

And Jane's "pigtail of steel" remains intact.

So what is the shocking moment I referred to? After it's all over, Myka decides to introduce Jane to her partner, Pete Lattimer, a name that elicits an unmistakable "WTF?" reaction from Jane.

That's nothing compared to what happens when she turns around and Pete sees her, and the word "Mom!" escapes from his lips.

Okay, I admit it. When Pete said, "Mom!" .. I made the gay gasp.

So what worked, and what didn't work in storyline "A?"

I think pretty much everything worked. I love Kate's character (it's the beginning of a four-episode arc for her), and naturally, her relationship with Pete is going to be at the forefront of her story arc.
