Gay Contestant Lands Spot on "The Voice." Comes Out to His Dad!

I'll say this for NBC's The Voice, it just managed to do what Fox's American Idol still hasn't managed to do in ten seasons — feature an out gay contestant during the competition. Yes, Idol gave us Adam Lambert, but as we all so well know, Adam didn't officially come out until after the season ended.

Not so twenty-year-old Tyler Robinson of Folsom, CA who interviewed about his desire to be a singer, as well as the fact that he is gay and Mormon. Turns out he had yet to tell his dad the part about being gay. (And h/t to AE reader Glosoli!)

Check out Tyler's performance of "Hey, Soul Sister" and see which judge picked him!

Are you watching The Voice? What do you think so far? And isn't Tyler adorable!
