Grew up in a suburb of Manhattan, knowing someday I'd make it on my own in the big city. Moved to NYC after college and worked in the publicity department of a big publishing company, accompanying authors on publicity tours. Left to go to grad school, studying theater at NYU. Taught in the English and Theater departments at NYU for 8 years. Started freelance writing to earn enough to survive, and wound up enjoying writing more than academia. Still writing, full-time at the in-house advertising and marketing division of another publisher. And having a blast now writing about pop culture for AE.
