Bio
My husbear and I live in Maine. We bought a 100+ year old house and are having a blast/migraine renovating/redecorating it. I'm 50 and he's 44 and we have two shih tzus, Rufus (after Wainwright) and Scampers (after how he moved when he was a baby). They are 3 and 4 now. Husbear has a day job, but he's also a musician who plays saxophone, guitar and recorder. The band he was in, "Driven to Oblivion", recently disbanded, so he and another ex-member are getting a new thing together with a new direction and new music. He's an artist-oils-and I am a graphic designer--retired. So, the designs for the house come from my handy dandy graphics software and a slightly deranged Anglophilic mind. Our living room is crafted after a small English cottage lounge and we call it a "Snug". All overstuffed furniture and a gas fire and fancy roller shades which I made myself. I also made the Tim Burton-esque lampost in the front yard from plumbing and electrical supplies. I couldn't find a solar that was big enough and didn't want to run an electric line under the driveway, so I made my own solar one that is big enough. I drove the folks at Home Depot and Lowe's crazy, 'cause the parts I was looking for fit the shape I needed, not their original function. They were all very helpful and patient. He's an atheist and I'm Olde Religion (Wicca includes the Olde Religion, but the Olde Religion isn't necessarily Wicca). I'm retired with spinal stenosis and neuropathy from the diabetes I contracted from a treatment for the spinal stenosis which failed. I have a scooter and I really enjoy running all over Lewiston/Auburn in the non-winter months. Husbear is also finishing his Bachelor's degree, just got a promotion and is taking the summer off from the music and the matriculation (I probably mis-spelled that) to just have fun. Speaking of which, we are going to Gay Pride in Montreal August 1st. It looks like it's going to be a great time. That's about all I can think of for a bio. I'm so glad you got the chance to meet me. My favorite quote: When I'm good, I'm very good, but when I'm bad, I'm soooo much better--Mae West. C U
Favorite Gay/Bi TV or Movie Characters
Oh man...I never can remember names: The drag queen in Flawless. Seth Green in Buffy--yeah yeah...I know--prolly not gay, but one can dream. Do we mean gay icons? Katherine Hepburn is at the top of my list. She's my all time favorite actress period. My favorite actor is Bruce Willis. He's so butch and sexy and normal and funny and he once identified himself on David Letterman as being quadrasexual, to which Letterman responded: You'll do anything with anyone for a quarter? Upon which Willis carved his initials into Letterman's desk. He also has a tendency to ask other guys he's in TV shows with if they want to make out. He did that bit with Paul Reiser on that TV show...whatever it was called. I woulda payed good money to see it if Reiser had said yes. I despise ALL of the crafted queer characters I've ever seen in TV shows except "Beverly" from "All in the Family". They're either cartoons, clowns, bad actors reading bad writing, jesters, or killer-queens. I DESPISED "Brokeback Mountain". It was every old queer movie cliche updated and repackaged for a mainstream audience. They queers live miserable lives (through the 70's and 80's, no less...puh-leeeez) and then the bottom (the REAL queer) is beaten to death by the side of the road, thereby proving that that is what happens to queers. How is this different from ANY of the other mainstream queer movies? The queer is either killed, dies from AIDS, or righteously commits suicide. The ONLY movie I think DESERVES the accolades heaped on "Brokeback Mountain" is "Making Love". Nobody died. Nobody committed suicide. Nobody died from AIDS and everyone went on happily with their lives. Hmmmm...this has turned into an editorial. Sorry about that.
Favorite TV Shows

Most of them have been cancelled:

Buffy, Charmed, QAF, OZ, Angel, Carnivale.

Some left:

The Daily Show, Countdown w/ Keith Olbermann, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

They're trying so hard to come up with replacements for Buffy and Charmed, but they all reek: Hex is the worst. Dresden was okay, but it's gone already. Blood Ties is okay, but only because the guys are so freakin' pretty.
