"I Wanna Be the First Dumb Gay Best Friend in Movie History"

Patton Oswalt is a stand-up comedian, actor and now author. You probably remember him for playing several hilarious characters on Reno 911! Or for his hearbreaking turn as Charmaine's rejected babydaddy Neil on United States of Tara.

Last night he showed up on Conan to promote his recently published collection of essays called Zombie Spaceship Wasteland. The first half of this clip is him talking about barf bags and other book tour experiences (which are pretty funny).

But midway through the Conan appearance things get really interesting — particularly for AfterElton readers — when Oswalt talks about being up for a part in a new Kate Hudson romantic comedy — playing "the gay best friend."

This guy is now officially my hero, and I think I might have to go buy his book. Also, just discovered it's his birthday today, so happy birthday Patton Oswalt. I hope you get that gay best friend part, because I would so go see that movie!
