Video Premiere: Katy Perry's "E.T."

Gay music fans have long had an ambivalent relationship with Katy Perry. With an early hit called "Ur So Gay" and the exploitative faux lesbian anthem "I Kissed A Girl" she just never felt like she was aiming to connect at all with a gay audience. In that respect she seemed to stand in stark contrast to Lady Gaga.

But you can't deny her uncanny ability to churn out catchy, commercially appealing tunes, and a recent video (for "Fireworks") even gave a sweet shout out to bullied gay teens.

And then of course there was Glee's take on "Teenage Dream" which introduced us to Blaine and Darren Criss. So we definitely owe Ms. Perry for that!

In the first video below Perry talks about her career trajectory and how she understands that not "everybody was on board the Katy Perry train" early on.

And now we have the otherworldly world premiere of her new single. "E.T."

Okay, I'm ready to come out as officially on board the Katy Perry train. Check out the video and let us know in the comments whether or not you are as well.
