Video: Fassbender Talks About His "Shame" with AfterElton

Of all the roles Michael Fassbender has in the pipeline, he's been getting the most buzz for his turn as a "normal-looking" sex addict Brandon in Shame.

The whole idea for the film started when director Steve McQueen met with his soon-to-be co-screenwriter Abi Morgan for tea. Three hours passed and McQueen (who has worked with Fassbender in the lauded film Hunger) and Morgan started talking about an unlikely tea time topic that would result in a writing collaboration.

"We got into a conversation about sex addiction and that just stuck in my mind," says McQueen "I just liked the idea of its urgency and a situation that has never really been portrayed in movies before. It's sort of an 'under the cover' situation, and I thought it would be wonderful to make a film about that."

I had the opportunity to talk with Fassbender about how he created his complex, sex-addicted character. All the while, I avoided questions like "How is it like to be naked on camera?" I am sure that by now he has regurgitated an answer to that question a million times.

Plus, I was trying to take on a Barbara Walters demeanor in the interview. Unfortunately, he did not shed any tears.
